I believe my legal training, my business background and education, my five years experience as a City Commissioner, my investment in our community, my commitment to mentoring our youth, and my unwavering commitment to Sunrise makes me the most qualified to continue serving as your City Commissioner.  In addition to the written Qualifications listed below, I invite you to check out the Events and Activities tab to see my commitment and involvement in Sunrise.

In order to better assess my Qualifications, I believe it is helpful to understand what is the function of a City Commissioner.

The City of Sunrise operates under a Commission/Manager form of government, led by a Mayor and four City Commissioners who are elected to four-year terms on a non-partisan basis. In November of each year, one Commissioner is selected to serve as Deputy Mayor, while another is chosen as Assistant Deputy Mayor. It is the Commission's responsibility to set policy, establish laws and adopt the City's budget. The Commission-appointed City Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of Sunrise.

The Mayor and Commission strive to represent the best interests of Sunrise, and continually seek ways to better meet the expectations of the citizens they serve.

Neil C. Kerch was elected as City of Sunrise Commissioner in March of 2013.  Mr. Kerch was reelected as City Commissioner in November of 2014.  Mr. Kerch has served as Deputy Mayor in 2013 and 2017.  Mr. Kerch served as Assistant Deputy Mayor in 2016.
